This time I'm starting from scratch with a brand new car kit from an '06 'Busa with 11 miles on it...got the complete thing including the fuel pump and have been working with Neal at Apex Speed Technologies to deal with the harness and tuning.
We're going to take a Yoshimura GSXR1000 race harness and convert it rather than tackle the humongous 'Busa harness (which has all sorts of crap including light circuits) and I'm going to put a Power Commander in the loop so the EFI can be dyno tuned.
As for the fuel system, the factory Mitsubishi fuel pump fits nicely into the holder in the fuel cell so it appears all I have to do is add a fuel pressure regulator and a return line to the cell, pretty simple as far as that goes.
Been swapping over parts, turns out there are a lot of little fittings and things which are specific to the installation.
One of the first parts to switch were the clutch springs...ended up getting very heavy duty ones from hayabusazone (APE) and apparently the clutch slave cylinder holder/sprocket cover is a known weak spot so the recommendation was to use 3 heavy duty springs and get a kit to reinforce the clutch slave cover...this is on order but the springs have been swapped.
Also had to block off the PAIR valve fittings, replace the upper water hose fitting (the Radical one caps the vent line) and remove the thermostat. Also wrapping the starter in heat shielding this time due to it's proximity to the exhaust.
Should have gone this way the first time but there it is.
